{"id":1426,"date":"2025-11-15T14:29:57","date_gmt":"2025-11-15T13:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcmacb.de\/?page_id=1426"},"modified":"2025-11-15T14:29:57","modified_gmt":"2025-11-15T13:29:57","slug":"full-restore-from-timemachine","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pcmacb.de\/?page_id=1426","title":{"rendered":"Full Restore from TimeMachine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phase 1: Access Recovery and Erase the Broken Disk<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Connect Both Drives:<\/strong> Plug in your Time Machine backup disk and the USB installer drive (if you used one for the failed upgrade).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Access Recovery Mode:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Intel Macs:<\/strong> Restart your Mac and immediately press and hold <strong>Command (\u2318) + R<\/strong> until you see the Apple logo or a spinning globe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apple Silicon Macs:<\/strong> Press and hold the <strong>Power button<\/strong> until you see the startup options screen, then select <strong>Options<\/strong> and click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Open Disk Utility:<\/strong> From the macOS Utilities window, select <strong>Disk Utility<\/strong> and click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Erase the Internal Disk:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>View &gt; Show All Devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>top-level physical device<\/strong> of your internal Mac drive (e.g., APPLE SSD&#8230;).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Erase<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Name:<\/strong> <code>Macintosh HD<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Format:<\/strong> <strong>APFS<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scheme:<\/strong> <strong>GUID Partition Map<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Erase<\/strong> to wipe the broken Sequoia installation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quit Disk Utility:<\/strong> Close Disk Utility to return to the macOS Utilities window.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phase 2: Restore from Time Machine Backup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Start Restore:<\/strong> Back in the macOS Utilities window, select <strong>Restore From Time Machine<\/strong> (or &#8222;Restore from a Time Machine Backup&#8220;) and click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Select Source:<\/strong> Click <strong>Continue<\/strong> again and select your <strong>Time Machine Backup Disk<\/strong> from the list of available sources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Select Backup:<\/strong> You will see a list of backup dates. <strong>Select the most recent backup of your working Ventura system<\/strong> (the backup <em>before<\/em> you attempted the upgrade).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Select Destination:<\/strong> Select the internal drive you just erased (<code>Macintosh HD<\/code>) as the destination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Start Restore:<\/strong> Click <strong>Restore<\/strong> and wait for the process to complete.
